Attendees: Rene Gill, President; Tom Contreras, Vice President; Charlie Shultheis, Secretary; Jim Struthers, Treasurer; Roger Oravetz, Handicap Chairman; Al Olbeter, Charity Committee Chair.
Charity Committee: current charity account balance is $6873. A discussion was held regarding possible recipients for charity funds. Discussion regarding funding for Therapeutic Riders of Tucson (TROT) and their approach to veterans. Estimated costs for a 3-month course of therapy for a veteran is estimated to be $1000. Charlie Shultheis suggested that we grant TROT a donation of $1000 to sponsor a vet for the 3-month course of therapy. Board unanimously approved $1000 donation to TROT.
QCVGA activities for the foreseeable future were discussed leading to questions regarding the QCVGA being a Quail Creek chartered organization. Tom Contreras agreed to get with QC leadership to push this item through to completion. Epifania (Epi) Torres is looking into the process to get us chartered.
QCVGA Battle of the Branches tabled for 1st half of 2021 – possibly holding it in conjunction with the November 9, 2021 Veterans Day golf event.
Discussion without any decisions on a summer golf outing to Show Low. Tom Contreras to check on availability when he returns to Show Low. The Board also discussed the possibility of holding monthly golf events at Quail Creek. That idea was tabled pending outcome of chartering exercise with Quail Creek POA.
Membership Committee – with Tom Haberer’s resignation from QCVGA Board, nothing has been done. Jim Struthers volunteered to take the reins until a suitable chairman can be found. Social memberships discussed and Board agreed to a fee of $15.00 per year for social memberships (same as golf members minus the AGA dues).
